just thought I’d banter a bit. seemed appropriate. i reckon i had a good read on you being some sort of millennial with a receding hairline especially with this sort of response (let the reader understand). i hate to poop on your party here but there is not smoke coming out my ears as i reply. just a grin. see you soon

Whilst you hide behind an alt to whom i'm assuming is Spectate cough cough the players reading this post realize it's a poor attempt at a mild discussion with the actual intent of bashing Rubik. If you had even a 20+ IQ you'd realize that one person simply isn't enough to create new content at a reasonable pace along with patching and finding new bugs that sprout up every day. Along with only being one person working 40+ hours a week at an IRL job. I also hate to be the bearer of bad news but as much as KDawg did for this server and contributed to, Rubik was the backbone behind most of the work of the last 5 years. This isn't the first time KDawg has left this community and quite frankly I wouldn't be suprised if people like you were one of the contributing reasons.

Realistically the reason new things stopped happening and only mild additions such as battlepass gimmicks and lootboxes being added are for the same reasons why TF2 never sees new content. If some of you aren't aware as to why TF2 has seen a sharp decline in support it's because of community backlash. Valve took a risk making the last major update for the community and even held a vote as to which character would see the most change. This was called Jungle Inferno. After it had released the entire community threw negative comments and overall hated the entire update leading Valve to essentially throw their arms up and call it a day with that game. If I recall correctly Valve threw a ton of resources to that update and it ended in a flop.

The reason you don't see games taking huge risks anymore is because there's no point in taking that risk when it's met with an absurd amount of animosity. Another example would've been the new chat box. A minor change was met with constant criticism and shaming. That's not something you want to deal with as firstly a solo developer and especially an individual. We always wonder why the same fucking COD game is released every single year with no meaningful changes but refuse to be open to any kind of meaningful change.

If you want to encourage Rubik to look for a new developer or open himself up to new changes why not take a different approach other than calling him "lazy" in short. Approach him with a positive attitude and a bit more empathy to his position. No one and I mean no one is going to be willing to take a risk when even before the risk is taken they're met with adversity. Stop being a fat fuck behind a computer screen bitching about how your way of playing the server is better than others and look to promote positivity in change.

thank you for taking your time to reply. my simple suggestion that i have already said is that i dislike the battlepass model of updates as it feels forced (like rubik has to release such and such battlepass before summer because it is expected) and think that something else should be considered. I have no statistical way to prove this but the people who like this style of update seem to not be large in number but rather the loudest voices that rubik hears (personally i also think he is out of touch of how the server is since he likely doesn’t want to play the server very often). the “negative” approach in this thread of complaining is used because it attracts more attention, and is how i truly feel. i want to push buttons. also “my way” of playing the server has little to do with my posts (and is superior) but that isn’t relevant to my points.

legerbs i do not appreciate your accusations. all of which are untrue. especially that i (Jake Skylynx, sibling of @Joey Skylynx) was some sort of contributing factor to sugar leaving. i somehow doubt that considering that i do not participate in doxxing and had nothing to do with the people who individually went through each and every single person in the discord they didn’t like (including sugar) and mass report them making them lose their discord accounts after threatening to sue the server. fairly certain that may have been the straw that broke the camels back. that is what i heard from a trusted community member on the staff team concerning sugar. please message me using forums direct messages if you’d like to discuss the matter any further. i want to keep this thread on topic.

To see a world in a grain of sand
And a heaven in a wild flower,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand
And eternity in an hour.

A robin redbreast in a cage
Puts all Heaven in a rage.
A dove house fill'd with doves and pigeons
Shudders Hell thro' all its regions.
A dog starv'd at his master's gate
Predicts the ruin of the state.
A horse misus'd upon the road
Calls to Heaven for human blood.
Each outcry of the hunted hare
A fibre from the brain does tear.
A skylark wounded in the wing,
A Cherubim does cease to sing.
The game cock clipp'd and arm'd for fight
Does the rising Sun affright.
Every wolf's and lion's howl
Raises from Hell a human soul.

...

He who respects the infant's faith
Triumphs over Hell and Death.
The child's toys and the old man's reasons
Are the fruits of the two seasons.
The questioner, who sits so sly,
Shall never know how to reply.
He who replies to words of doubt
Doth put the light of Knowledge out.
The strongest poison ever known
Came from Caesar's laurel crown,
Nought can deform the human race
Like to the armour's iron brace.
When gold and gems adorn the plow
To peaceful arts shall Envy bow.
A riddle or the cricket's cry
Is to doubt a fit reply.
The emmet's inch and eagle's mile
Make lame Philosophy to smile.
He who doubts from what he sees
Will ne'er believe, do what you please.
If the Sun and Moon should doubt,
They'd immediately go out.
To be in a passion you good may do,
But no good if a passion is in you.
The whore and gambler, by the state
Licens'd, build that nation's fate.
The harlot's cry from street to street,
Shall weave Old England's winding sheet.
The winner's shout, the loser's curse,
Dance before dead England's hearse.
Every night and every morn
Some to misery are born.
Every morn and every night
Some are born to sweet delight.
Some are born to sweet delight,
Some are born to endless night.
We are led to believe a lie
When we see not thro' the eye
Which was born in a night to perish in a night,
When the Soul slept in beams of light.
God appears and God is light
To those poor souls who dwell in night,
But does a human form display
To those who dwell in realms of day.

Asking for something without offering a solution can create unnecessary strain in communication and collaboration. When individuals raise problems or requests without suggesting ways to address them, it places the full burden of problem-solving on others. This approach can come across as passive or even entitled, especially in professional or group settings where time and resources are limited. Offering a solution, even a tentative one, shows initiative, critical thinking, and a willingness to contribute—traits that are often valued in both personal and professional relationships.

Furthermore, when you ask for something without presenting a possible resolution, it can hinder progress. Those on the receiving end may not fully understand your expectations or how best to help you. This lack of clarity can delay decisions, reduce efficiency, and create frustration. In contrast, when you suggest a solution along with your request, it frames the issue in a constructive way and provides a starting point for discussion, which can lead to faster and more effective outcomes.

Lastly, offering solutions demonstrates respect for others’ time and effort. It acknowledges that everyone has their own responsibilities and constraints, and that collaboration is a shared process. This mindset encourages mutual respect and a culture of proactive problem-solving, which are essential for building trust and achieving long-term success in any team or community.

Regarding Sugar, there are many things that contributed to him leaving. While a member's action might have been the boiling point, it wasn't the entire reason. Sugar had done this for nearly a decade. Back then, there was practically no headadmins and admin at the time had no power (like promoting/demoting) so there was no one doing all that but Sugar. That's why you see these ranks have so much power now because it gave him more freedom to do what he loved, which is to code. Sugar did all of this for that long, and once he had his fun, it was time to go and do other stuff. I don't know if he will ever be back, but I'm sure he would be welcomed with open arms, but after everything that's happened, highly unlikely.

Speaking of which, Rubik wasn't some chosen demi-god coder like Sugar. That's simply because Sugar's IRL job and passion was coding while Rubik didn't. However, when Sugar had left the first time, Rubik stepped up to the plate and kept the server running by paying off its bills and took the time to learn all he could about GLua until Sugar came back. Now that Sugar is gone, along with the other devs, Rubik is all we have.

I for one also support more content for the server. Fresh new content is what I imagine we all would like to see. What I see in this post however is mostly bashing Rubik, while trying to poorly disguise a suggestion for more content which is not right imo. He literally posted a giant changelog this morning with server-breaking bugs/exploits patched.

Back to custom content though, yes, I agree with you that we should add new CUSTOM content. As far as performance, the only issue is when you start adding a shit ton of crammy addons into it. This server's content is mostly custom and well optimized, and not to mention we compress all of our shit, so we can definitely fit more stuff into this server.

This topic is something to discuss further as a community, and while your concerns are understood, don't go and bash Rubik, especially if you don't know the entire story.
