When I was first starting out as staff, not even 2 weeks after I became Trial Mod, I saw this. I figured "Oh, so if only a certain number of people report, you pretend like that's all that happened, or else you get demoted!" And I followed by that. Obvious MRDM sits, mass ANYTHING, if it was only reported by 1 person, i focused on that one person, and punished accordingly.

I was only reported by 2 people. There was a "fake maxwell announcement" and, usually, even at real maxwell events, somebody either SBCs or Train Nades, so I followed the tradition, thinking it'd be funny. Decent said I got "10 kills". But how was he to know the other 8 were RDM? How was he to know I wasn't just messing around with 8 of my friends, and the 2 reporters weren't just accidental RDM?

With the 2 reporters thing out of the way, not only that, but that was a first time offense. Never RDMed, never even been reported for it, and immediate demotion + a week ban? With no other staff input?
I get that decent is a senior mod, and that's hard to get.
But I did my job. I hadn't got caught on any other staff-abuse punishments. Nothing. I have 1 singular warn during my entire time playing the server, and it was Fading Door Abuse.
I am also aware that Staff are held to higher standards, as we already know the rules. But. Immediate demotion ?

Honestly. I'm not even making this to appeal. I don't want to come back. I want nothing to do with this server, and it's terrible rules, that are lenient where they shouldn't be, and incredibly strict where they also should not be. I'm making this to make a point. The double standards here are laughable, and, to be honest, everyone involved with making the rules should be ashamed.
There is no reason there should be people on this server doing the things they do. The racism, sexism, everything wrong with this world, packed into one Garry's Mod server, like 3D 4chan. 
Not even last week, there was a guy, "selling slaves," and "collecting negros." What happened to him? Nothing. At all. No other staff even pointed it out.

Honestly, I feel like while I was staff, I should've abused my admin tools a little more. Maybe Force Removed a door once in awhile.
Thank you all, for the terrible, terrible, first staffing experience.

I hope in the future, that I never have to witness any game with rules as poor and vague as these. 
Having to constantly ask other staff, higher-ups, yadda yadda, "Is this a rulebreak? Is this a rulebreak? Is this a rulebreak? Is this a rulebreak?" isn't normal. In a server like this, your rules should be specific enough to account for how creative the rulebreakers can be. Disguising how dogshit your rules are by saying "Everything is up to staff discretion" because there ISN'T A CONCRETE ANSWER TO ANY RULEBREAKS, it isn't ok. 

To end this off, I'd like to say; 
Fuck you, for wasting my time. I wanted to see this server thrive, and as time went on, I realized something would need to change, and that change clearly won't be made for awhile. Thanks for reading, and thanks for demoting me, so the rose tinted glasses forced over my eyes would finally fucking shatter. I wrote this entire thing to solidify that you guys never accept me back, just incase I have a moment of "clarity" and try to reapply after 2 weeks, or some shit.

If you break a rule that will get you banned you will be demoted as well. I would like to point out MRDM at fountain with an SBC cannon will get you banned. Playing the victim here is a bit crazy when you just did the crime. Yes only two people reported it but it is up to the staff member who took the sit to decide the punishment based on the information available to them. The two people who reported you both had their keys out according to !shownlr and did 0 damage to you prior. I then sifted through death logs to check how many people you killed which was 11 people. Then looking into the death positions all took place at fountain and because you killed 11 people in the span of 1 second I don't see how this could be considered anything else other than MRDM. The very second I saw the kill feed light up 2 reports came in that I took,  then a third after I had banned you. You are allowed to throw a train grenade at fountain because according to the MOTD it is considered a natural event and not RDM. You are not allowed to openly shoot at a crowd of players because "it would be funny." 

 

I am -1 for unban because you did something worthy of a 1 week ban.

 

In the future take responsibility for your actions instead flinging accusations at staff members who have been nothing but nice from my understanding.

Also in response to your unrelated messages defaming the server, you were staff at the time so why didn't you do something about this? All these things you are listing (Racism) is not allowed and is punished heavy.

Doing this as a player is russian roulette. I just banned tapwater a day or so ago for 14d for getting 3 reports. Tapwater is a homie, but I still did it without hesitation because thats what happens when you get 3 or more reports. He almost got off with 2 reports/a warn, as thats what higherup staff online were saying to do, but a third came in and he was banned.

Doing this as staff was just a terrible idea. You could have trained and avoided the issue, as multiple staff have suggested here and in various other related threads. (such as unaboomer's)
I would expect a demotion if I did this and only got two reports, and a ban since I know we are supposed to be an example of what TO do, not what NOT to do.

I thought you were alright, its a shame you went down this route.

I'm sorry nothing was done about this, I can't speak for other staff but it wouldn't have been allowed, and would have been stopped. You were staff though, you are not off scott free for not doing something. It's up to you as well to take the initiative on something you know isn't allowed.

I can agree here to an extent, adding more and more to the rules is its own set of problems however. If you had thoughts on what you felt needed to change, did you bother to say so?

This is definitely circumstantial, random players who have no intention to roleplay and are just here to kill and not participate in the community will obviously be held to a different standard than someone participating in the community doing a (bannable) funny at a maxwell event - which has been a big problem lately. We still let new players who mass rdm with no gmod experience, and a good attitude in the sit off with a verbal/warn. We give out chances to these players to let them understand what they can and cant do, without turning them off from playing the server. People still get banned for it including respected regulars. (tapwater for example)

You played the game and lost unfortunately. As staff you are held to a higher standard.




It is unfortunate this all happened, but you should have known well the risk involved.

So in conclusion, you were a staff member who thought it was a good idea to SBC a whole group waiting for a maxwell knowing that would be Mass RDM and you're surprised about getting consequences for it as a result? I know RDMing is funny but a whole group of people that most of them don't know you or other way around was a stupid thing to do. If you were just 10% more mature about this I could honestly make an argument where, given the context, this could be a self-warn. I will say its really ballsy to SBC maxwell as a mod. Never seen something quite like it. I do think that your defense of 'I only got reported twice' and 'We only punish based off of report' to be a bit silly, though - you can't use that logic going into it because you can't predict how many people will report you, and you are a mod.  Own the demotion, I get you're saying you want no part of this community but people always come back around. I will say that as far as my experience with you went, I only thought you were a pretty level-headed and kind person. I don't understand why you went crazy at the end there.

It's unfortunate that you decided to do this, if you had any issues on the server or discord you could've messaged me or any other higher up.

 

Also saying "Honestly, I feel like while I was staff, I should've abused my admin tools a little more. Maybe Force Removed a door once in awhile.
Thank you all, for the terrible, terrible, first staffing experience." While honest just isn't a very great thing to say.

Alert to all staff. I am mentioned in this appeal I have a right to post my 2 cents

 

If only 2 people reported you it should be reduced to a 2-5 day ban for irdm X2 i believe according to the punishment guidelines and the message of the day.

 

As for your comments about me I know a lot of the staff are unfairly biased against me. Thank you for confirming it.

 

Finally you're a crybaby if U want to quit just do it like a normal person
