Warned for Necroposting

I don't get why you can't understand the concept of it being the first post, and it being relevant to current events. You can't consider a thread to be dead when its the top thread in that section. That is just wrong.

Being unnecessarily strict and a stickler for the rules is also not what being staff is about. I would figure that someone who is an SMOD would understand when things should be handled and when you are going overboard.

another smod actually said they were going to warn you and i did it for them. We wont bend the rules for you blue sorry to tell you that. You still broke a rule and will be warned for it. You could clearly tell the post was dead and still decided to comment on it. doesn't matter where it was. you don't comment on a dead thread.

Is the warn a little harsh... Yeah maybe. But the forums literally tells you to start a new thread at the bottom of the page when making a comment on it when it's been dead. Imo you literally shot yourself in the foot. If Jason doesn't want to unwarn you he has all right to not do so.

So when I first saw this get brought up I initially saw that it was a post on a topic that was roughly a month old and I thought OK this doesn’t really add much to this topic it’s kind of Necro posting and my initial response supposed to do a warn. but I was pinged A little bit ago and after looking at the original thread I noticed it was in the video/screenshot section and then thought ok this isn’t a very used section or a important section where we discuss things or suggest things to improve the server. and does this comment that was added negatively effect anything in this thread so much that it needs to be removed. And honestly not really I would be

I think a warn in this situation is pretty harsh, but if you had actually contributed something relevant to the discussion I doubt anyone would have considered it “necroposting”. I think if a warn is appropriate then it should have been for spam / shitposting or whatever it’s called nowadays. +1 for warn removal OR +0.5 for changing the warn to simple spam if you’re going to keep the warn.

To be fair though, the majority of the responses were shitposts and the post itself was in itself a joke. I meant what I said though, HIDDEN is cool. I quite literally just clicked on the post it shows on the side of the title of the forums section, read through everything, and wanted to counter what was being said joke or not since HIDDEN the homie.

If the post itself was a serious topic I would say that a shitpost warn might have been valid but I personally don't agree that someone should be warned for shitposting for making a light hearted comment on a shitpost.

This pretty much sums up my thoughts on this. I'll +1 and I advocate for a change to the warn if you're gonna decide to keep it after everyone else's responses to this. 

 

As stated before the warn is harsh but is within his bounds to do so. I think the punishment is just a bit much and it doesn't do much constructively to the player being punished in terms of what he did versus players getting punished for actually hurting the threads that were made say yesterday and necroposting on a post from a month ago in the discussions threads.
