There’s zero context that excuses calling someone a pedo in game chat . Even if that player was being 1000% serious in his accusation - server chat is the incorrect medium.

 

to be clear I think cooldude2005 was trolling by using inflammatory language to get a reaction from adagio. In my opinion, what he said was over the line and crosses into harassment. 
 

punishment guidelines dictate this kind of comment can range anywhere from a warn to a 1 week ban. Coolguy is a relatively new player but already has an extensive warn history and several bans on his record (albeit only vote bans). 
 

I do not believe we need to throw the book at him with a 1 week ban - however his history does indicate he either does not have a solid grasp on the rules, or actively disregards them. Either way, I believe some sort of punishment on the lower end of the punishment guidelines would best fit the actions of the player. 
 

I would like to give coolguy2005 an opportunity to reply before giving a +1  or -1. honestly further context on what prompted him to say this would effect my opinion between a warn or a ban. It appears to just be one lone comment and isolated to this one instance and that should hold weight in how we view this. If it was some kind of stupid joke about bitminers - I see this as a warn. If it’s more of a personal attack against the reporting player - it should be a ban in my opinion.

Can just slap him with a warn and a note to ban for minimum of 1 week for next offense. They have no priors and the situation isn't as bad as it could be. They have no forums or discord and steam is an atrocious way to try and contact someone. 

I'm willing to bet they called them a pedo because they're an alien smooching people. This isn't even the first time I've seen this happen lol.

Yeah like blue says sometimes people slip up right they may not have knew don’t say that I’ve seen the weirdest mess when a alien comes up and smooch’s someone just a warn is fine in this case

While this was possibly said in a very unserious manner (joking/trolling due to the kiss swep, or "alien smooching" as Blue said), it is unfortunately something we need to recognize as inappropriate on this server and in this community. These sorts of accusations (joking or not) can carry real-world weight and consequences, and cause escalation or unnecessary drama.
