I'd like to ask what everyone's opinion of the demote command is, lately I've seen it used for nothing but abuse and petty back and forth arguments. I'd personally like to have it removed as these days it's hardly even being used for it's intended purpose "to combat failRP", and most situations that would involve it's use are already handled by the staff team.

The demotion command faces the same problem as votebans where everyone will simply vote yes without even looking at or considering it, another alternative would be to have it so demotions could only be handled by either staff, vips, respected ranks etc.

TLDR: I don't wanna keep getting demoted by angry people.

I kind of agree that it would help a bit if only VIP+ could use the demote command, but at the same time almost everyone on the server is VIP, still though it would probably help cut out some of the false demotions

I would at least like it if CC thief classes couldn't be demoted at all, and cop CC's being only demote able by either staff with a CP ban or getting fired by the mayor. We grinded for these and shouldn't be demoted by an unhappy player because his base was raided, or he got caught kidnapping in front of the pd for the fifth time.

imo all that needs to happen is to add the first suggestion i put in this thread into the server, so that setjob skips the demote cooldown on jobs (pd, mayor, or any job in general) as right now it doesn't skip that demotion timer so you will not be able to get your job back. This is typically an issue in false demotes from the mayor on pd and the cp not being able to go back on their job, or the mayor being either false revolted or rdmed and now having a 20 minute cooldown on becoming the job. This makes it so that if you're falsely demoted from your job with a /demote, you can call a sit, and when it is resolved as being a false demote you can get set back to your job. Only conflicts here would be with the mayor being false unfunned or false revolted and then another mayor coming into power, maybe add a 2-5minute wait after mayor deaths to get another mayor in so that people can campaign or something?

The issue with demotes right now is that players don't seem to know where to use it and when to call a sit. I see a lot of people calling sits for stuff that isn't really a big issue and could easily have just been solved either in rp or forgotten about as it didn't affect them at all. If more demotions are RP-related demotions instead of RDM or failrp demotions then it would just make it a lot better. The issue isn't on the command itself, as in my opinion it's perfectly fine as it is, it's on the playerbase for not understanding when to call a sit for a rulebreak and when to handle it in roleplay

i think demote command should only be used for cops because thats pretty much where 90% of "rule breaking" happens. Now for demoting ccs i think it is stupid that they can be demoted (players with multiple ccs are just unaffected) but i could see why it exists so it doesnt make ccs more op than they already can be. Most demotes are people who are pissed about getting bounty hunted/hit/Raided etc. and with thief jobs the only demotable offence really is massrdm which can be done by any class. Demotes dont really stop people from doing what they are doing (especially cops because there is a million police jobs). A good rework for the demote command would make it exclusive for CP and have it as a temporary ban from cp classes as a whole. Itll prevent people from just demoting someone for bad reasons cause less drama and it could be narrowed down to just cops who are usually the ones not doing their job correctly. If i missed any features about demote command please tell me id like to know.spacer.png
