Reasons why you are reporting: So I'm posting this about a week after the actual incident because I wasn't so sure if a report on this would be justified but now that I do, here I am. So I ended up calling TheDavid "a Shit mod" because he attempted to scam me and failed. He then proceeded to warn me for "Disrespect against staff", and he left the server right after. So I always felt it was completely unjustified because obviously if it were a regular player in the place of him nothing would have happened but I wasn't actually completely aware that the warn was false until now. I've seen multiple posts such as the following posted by Monoxide about situations similar to this:

 

"Staff disrespect is not a thing. As stated in the rules, staff are no better than normal players, we are just given the power to "police" If you will the rule breakers. "Staff  disrespect" is treated the exact same as player disrespect. It doesn't become a big deal until it turns into persistent harassment. Whoever told these staff members that staff disrespect was any different than standard player disrespect was wrong and sadly misguided."

 

And also this one posted by Scored and Walter the Assaulter:

 

"Yet all you have to do is call a staff an idiot to get warned or kicked"

 

"I've never seen anything like this before. Could you provide some kind of evidence? This would 100% be grounds for a demotion. Create a report thread.

 

To add onto this, today I was in a sit with TheDavid and I brought up this situation and he continued to pretend like it was completely justified. I told him to "not take words on the internet seriously" and to "not be a pussy" and he responded  with: "more disrespect?". I'd like atleast for my warning to be taken off and for someone to talk some sense into TheDavid about this.

As for what I said, I'm sure TheDavid will admit I told the story accurately (didn't take screenshots cause i didn't know it was unjustified at the time).

..A thorough report with some solid information. I've never seen this happen, but I can tell you my initial reaction to this thread was not a good one. Also was there any discussion? Did David bring you to a sit before warning you?

It sounds like he sees his staff position as superior and threatening more punishment if you don't stop. 

This is EXACTLY why the rules on staff respect are written the way that they are, because no one wants to play with someone who thinks or acts like they are superior in any way. 

 

So with that, I leave it up to the community &

Obviously that wasn't very nice to say but being warned for disrespect for a comment shouldn't happen. If you were told to not disrespect beforehand you would be accountable but from your story that doesn't look like its the case. Bantering over the internet is fine (and expected) so only if fair warning was given before there shouldn't be a punishment

What I said would apply to this situation exactly if this is truly what happened. Especially since he had scammed you, there is absolutely nothing wrong with what you said.

Disrespect warns shouldn't be given out at all until after being warned to stop harassing someone (unless it's a really extreme situation).

 

As Piklas says, banter is to be expected. Calling someone shit once on this server does NOT constitute harassment or disrespect enough to deserve a warn. I would say it might not even be enough to tell them to stop being disrespectful, it's such a small thing. 

 

Staff disrespect isn't really a thing, either. I think I recall Sugar said it wasn't a thing when people were going around warning dudes for saying one bad thing about them calling it staff disrespect. These situations shouldn't be treated specially because we are staff, but treated as a normal harassment/disrespect situation. 

 

If the facts are presented truly, +1 for warn removal.

David you have to chill out with these disrespect warns, we don't warn normal users who call other users "shit" one time in the chat, no different for staff. If it did hurt your feelings just tell him to stop, if he persistently disrespects you, THAT'S the warn.

I havent warned anyone else for disrespect, At the time i was not aware of the fact it goes from Verbal to warn if its persistant for Harrasment, Jeb told me this while we talked about his NLR Sit but included that my warns were shit, after the sit he called me a pussy, etc.  he was acting towards me after the Nlr sit.

So the story went like this: I was adverting that I was buying processors, then David pm'd me saying he was interested. We then met up, I dropped the money, he dropped the processor and right after I picked it up with a pick-up box, he tried to kill me but I killed him first. So out of anger of someone trying to scam me I insulted him in OOC in the form of "shit mod" and forgot about it. About a minute later, I recieved a warning for Staff Disrespect and TheDavid left the server (he mentioned he had to leave). There was no discussion whatsoever about this, and David did not bring me to a sit.

The warn will be removed, however im not gonna act on any punishments on either individual. Both are in the wrong in their own ways.

 

 

1. David. Do not warn players for very small disrespect such as that. its petty, and pointless. It means nothing. If they are harassing you over and over and causing drama you may do something, but otherwise no.

 

2. Jeb, do not feed it. Im not sure if you did it the first time, because David seems to have left right then. But going on in OOC saying shit like "stop being a pussy" or anything along those lines can stir up Drama and cause problems. Just don't do it.
