6 month ban for a fuggin joke about it lagging

Usually you get a warn for something like this especially if its first time (i dont see any mention of this player having any verbals or warns for this previously). Punishment guidelines are sort of vague on this regard which allows staff to ban for 6 months over a single threat like this.

 

+1 for reword of punishment guidelines this is incredibly vague in the guidelines

 

we had a whole arc of people saying "this (insert random player) is responsible for the crashes" or "I am responsible for the crashes" and never got punished which IMO is an OBVIOUS joke accusation which nobody ever got punished for during the time where someone was ACTIVELY going out of their way to crash the server. so i see no reason to throw a player a whole 6 month ban over a lag spike that sounds like he really did not cause (staff here saying they were spectating but he was just interacting with an npc, doesnt sound very lag inducing....)

 

+1 to change to 1-2mo ban for toxicity bc he called you f slur with several toxicity priors and his last prior being 1 month, and add threatening to crash the server as a footnote, THEN if he does it again it should be a 6mo

PUNISHMENT GUIDELINE FOR STAFF WHO DO NOT LOOK AT PUNISHMENT GUIDELINES:

This punishment guideline should be a LOT more specific because its worded in such a way where the person doing it is COMPLETELY at the mercy of the staff member to either get a warn or one of the longest ban lengths staff can give on the server which is way too flexible for something that can be this serious

 

I feel like anything that can call for a 6 month ban should have some sort of scale or a written absolute punishment, not "it can lead" which just leaves the player at the mercy of the staff member, and the staff member picked no mercy bc he got called the f slur which gave him free reign to just throw max punishment on it.

This will be a 6 month ban about 90% of the time.
Even threatening it can lead to a 6 month ban.

Causing lag in game and DDoSing fall under this.

So heres the thing - you can clearly see this guy isn't doing anything. He's in spawn saying some idiotic things, thats all this boils down to. 

Yes - Mr. CEO has a nasty history, yes he should have known better. Should he have really been banned for 6 months though for specifically ddos threats when its pretty obvious its a joke? Well. Lets have a look at his history. He seems to make a lot of jokes in VERY poor taste, as well as just having a generally toxic background. I do not think he should NOT have been banned, but understanding how clearly this was a joke I do not agree with a 6month ban right off the bat. Granted the punishment guidelines IS flawed as it currently leaves no room for any sort of leniency except for the fact it says  (about 90% of the time)  on it.

Let's be real here, you deserved a ban. You have been consistently problematic, and hell you made it clear you didn't give a shit about a ban. 

With all that in mind why are we jumping for a 6month ban for a joke? Is going for the maximum punishment because a staff member was insulted what we do? Yea this guy is a problem with in the community lol, but if we don't jump to 6month bans for pedo jokes why do we do it for ddosing/crashing jokes? Both could be argued that they can be harmful and aren't always trusted to just be jokes. I do not think a 1 month ban is good enough. I think a 2-3 month ban would be suitable for Player Toxicity / Ddos Threats with a note for a 6mo for the next  toxicity offense, and the next player toxicity offense to be a community removal. I think it should be made absolutely clear you're on your last rope here. If you want to continue being in the community you need to take a step away from titsrp, and make some serious changes OR AT THE BARE MINIMUM NOT MAKE DUMB ASS JOKES OR COMMENTS LIKE THIS. It is so incredibly easy to just not do this shit.

I'm sure everyone will probably disagree with me here, but I don't think this warrants a whole ass half year myself. Even with this guys history for making some disgusting jokes. This was just a case of a dude making a bad joke (not nearly as bad as pedo jokes IMO) and calling a staff member a naughty word. I haven't ever gone for a maximum punishment because someone called me a bad word and said just ban me. I still give them due process and keep in mind how actually serious what they did was.

We should remember not every situation needs to be handled the exact way the guidelines say. They are a reference and therefore are flexible, especially with the wording as stoner mentioned.

I totally understand you were making a joke. There’s no doubt in my mind that you were just fucking around. However there are certain jokes you don’t make depending on the context. You don’t joke about having a bomb in an airport or make Anne Frank jokes at a holocaust memorial.
 

Joking about crashing the server - regardless of your actual intent is very clearly laid out in the rules as something the staff are going to take very seriously. That’s not even a tits specific thing. If you joke about that in nearly any community - you’ll get banned.

 

The hostility - even though it’s not punishable, doesn’t make people want to help you or hear your perspective any more. From the perspective of neatbenny (I’m assuming) he just sees a guy who a lot of people have negative experiences with joking about crashing the server - if I was a new mod and didn’t know who you were - that clip of you telling the guy in spawn “it’s all gonna be over in 5 mins” would’ve been enough for me to make a ban after your initial comment.

 

i don’t think 6 months is an appropriate ban for the action made - I’m not the arbiter of punishment times but given your history and the lack of any accountability for what you said (even though it’s a joke - again you should really know that’s a joke that will get you in trouble) I’d be a +1 for a 2-3 month ban.

The guidelines have and always will be a guide on what punishments should be. For example, exploiting bans depend on what was done leading to a maximum ban length of 6 months. I recognize this player has been very problematic and should know that these jokes are taken seriously but 6 months is harsh in my opinion. 

 

I would say a reduction to 2 months for player toxicity would be a more appropriate punishment for this situation. This is because he has recently served out a 1 month for this and what he said in the sit would directly fall under this.

the joking of crashing the sever is still not okay i dont see why you would think this is okay to say even as light trolling, we don't allow it but i agree with other staff i do not think it should be 6mo ill be willing to cast a vote as of right now for 1-2 mo as staff we should think about things when it comes to harder bans right was this player really doing anything or where they trolling to say dumb things and did it warnt a 6mo ban

Now hearing from others what they thought about the situation, I will admit for the mistake I made as I was the one who told NeatBenny to give 6 months, as he was the one handling the situation. While my point still stands that you need to work on your jokes, I will be down for lowering the ban to 2m for Player Toxicity, since you not only came back from a ban for Player Toxicity, you were being a huge dick in general and didn’t help with you calling NeatBenny a slur.

Since your last ban was 1mo I think putting you on a 2mo ban would be fine, you have a toxic background where you make inappropriate jokes, and you just come off a lot of the time as not caring and you disregard server rules. Next time just don't joke about stuff like that it's just unnecessary.
