Why were you banned or warned?

FailRP (false pd raid) by DrugChicken Mon Feb 12 03:16:22 2024
Failrp x2 (False Demotion as mayor and normal cop) by edoux10 Thu Feb 15 01:25:04 2024

Why should you be unwarned/unbanned?

There is some debate on the forums right now about what is considered an NPC in PD and whether or not you should be allowed to prop block it. Consensus from Rubik and other staff is that it is an NPC, and you should not block it. I have either fired an officer as mayor or used /demote to get rid of people prop blocking it, who just happens to be one guy consistently. Basically, it shouldn't be blocked, so why should I be warned for trying to stop it being blocked.

Who warned/banned you?

DrugChicken the first time, edoux10 the second time.

How long were you warned or banned for?

I recieved 2 warns over the span of 4 days, and also got banned for a week for hitting 15 warns.

This is a whole thing so I'm gonna start from the beginning. This past Sunday, I was playing and noticed that Haze_of_dream was prop blocking part of the PD panel so people couldn't buy gun licenses. I did a /demote vote because propblocking an NPC is minging, and it passed. They immediately picked another CP job and kept the prop there. I asked the mayor if they wanted me to get rid of it and said sure, so I blew it up. I got called into a sit where I got hit with FailRP for a false demote, and Fail Raid for not adverting raid to blow up the prop. I was originally not going to appeal that one, however, now that we have direct confirmation from Rubik and other staff that it counts as an NPC, I think a warn for fail raid is a little excessive, considering I have never ever been warned for fail raid once while playing here. A verbal would have been preferred.

EDIT: I do not have a video of me getting permission from the mayor to blow up the prop, but I have video of everything leading up to it (including mayor saying the prop was not allowed) that I want to put here, just in case it helps. This was recorded with Xbox Game Bar and it didn't pick up my voice for some reason.

The second warn happened today for nearly exactly the same reason. They had a prop up, I did /demote, they made a sit with Rubik, but something must have happened because edoux kicked Haze for being afk or something. So that sit must have not gotten anywhere. When Haze got back, they became a cop again and got fired by another mayor for something. A bit later, he was back on CP and I got elected mayor. I made laws that exist to protect players from the PD being too OP, and a few of these laws were as follows:

1. PD is open to all.
2. Props are not allowed in PD.
3. All CP must read Miranda Rights to people before arresting.
4. If they do not (i.e. immediate want/arrest), they will be terminated.

I fucked up around this part and accidentally fired DA BUSHMAN for fining someone, because I got mixed up and thought he had arrested someone. After that, I got a PM from Printar that Haze had props in the PD. So he was fired. After a few minutes, the props were still there, so I asked him to remove them. He refused. I tried making a sit about it, and that's when we had a 3 way sit between me, BUSHMAN, and Haze dealing with all this. At one point, Rubik was brought in who wrote the whole thing off as an RP issue and ended the sit. But since Haze had made so many reports around the same time, edoux just took another and kept the sit going. I also got pissed off and said some stuff that earned me a player toxicity warn (which is 100% accurate and I'm not trying to get that removed.)

I have a whole video of the thing that I will leave here, but it's about 40 minutes long. However, it contextualizes everything that I've said. This whole thing got me accused of player targeting, but I would like to point out that this happened because the same person did the same mingy thing twice. It's hard to not get accused of player targeting when it's the same guy minging every time they are on.

This is the post from which he got the picture of Rubik saying it's an NPC. Multiple smods were in agreeance.

I would also like to add, since Haze wants to argue that the PD is the cop's base and they can put whatever they want in there, that bases with invisible props are against the rules as per the image below.

Edit: I stand corrected on invisible props, however the original sentiment still stands that the PD screen is a unique NPC and should not be blocked off.

While I agree with the sentiment, the rule does not say you can't have invisible props in your base. It's means your base can not be completely made of invisible props (since that would be a maze base).

Regarding the warns, I really think they should be removed. The fail raid warn is a little iffy. If you did get permission from the mayor, I can't see it being an issue (I may have used a blowtorch instead of blowing it up). I'm +1 for removal for both. Sounds to me like Haze deserves a warn for propblocking an essential NPC.

I'm bad at writing these but I agree with Mr.Nipple, Pretty sure there was mention of prop blocking the interface in PD as it is an NPC. It should not be allowed so I feel as if the warns were not necessary.

Jacques Mehoff gets a +1 for removal for both from me.

This is incorrect, Rubik only stated that the fail laws were a rp issue, He did not say that this included your false demotions or abuse of the /demote command, among other offenses, He also never instructed edoux on how the sit should go at all

P.S, Rubik probably saw this

Rubik likely wanted users to solve it via RP before going to staff, I do not recall rubik ever saying that any blanket abuse of mayor/laws is *only* an RP issue.

This is also incorrect, Rubik gave his thoughts and stated "I think" He did not make any decision in place of the admins/smods, I actually had a sit with Rubik about this right before you mentioned edoux kicking me. Rubik stated that while it wasn't illegal to do so, asked me politely to remove it to avoid issues, I did so out of respect for Rubik and giving my issues about the terminal in which i believe he is addressing.

FailRP (false pd raid)

-1 for a removal of this warn, you blew up a prop inside the PD without calling a raid. Prop block is a rule violation and should have been handled with a sit. Demotion works too to some degree but doesn't solve the issue at hand. Regardless of if the mayor says you can or not, I don't think this was the right call.

For the warns on FailRP because of the firing and demotions, I am +1 for removal. It seems like you handled every thing how you should have with multiple sits and demotions. You were doing great up until the sit and it got a little toxic. I would look at maybe apologizing to edoux. I know these situations can really bring out the not so great sides of people and you clearly let some emotions run wild. These people were attempting to hinder the RP experience with propblocking and you tried to remedy it and make the server not so CP heavy and I appreciate that. I don't think you should be punished for favoring citizens instead of CP for once.

I agree with you. Consider this a public apology to @edoux10 for making that sit more of a headache than it had to be. I also apologized on Discord as well.

I did try to make a sit for the first instance on 2-11 but no one was taking it, which is why I ended up asking mayor about the prop.

Also a question: if I get at least one of these warns taken away and go back below 15, would that result in an unban as well?

Thank you for apologizing to him here and on discord, I appreciate that very much.

Yes, you will be unbanned as soon as we have a majority decision in favor of warn removal here from the staff. I’ll go ahead and see if I can get you an expedited decision.
