I was given a verbal warning for putting the 卍 symbol in ooc with no added context. I explained when i was being warned that the symbol is a Buddhist swastika, which signifies peace, good fortune, prosperity, and universal harmony. I explained this when i was brought to a sit but i was disregarded. I think conflating a symbol that is still widely used in many countries, and is the symbol on the outside of many temples around the world, with the tilted, right-facing Nazi symbol, is wrong because they are completely distinct. This is basically a mirror version of nigga being allowed but the hard R isnt, they are similar but distinct, and context matters. Who warned/banned you? Ignoring the context is dangerous because it could be considered discrimintory to many people who use it as part of their religous beliefs. your statement that "This symbol is widely known for hate and just bad times in history" is wrong because again you are conflating 2 different symbols that mean 2 different things, to say otherwise is just ignorant. you say "this is nowhere close to being equal to us allowing" but you never explained how its different. My entire view is dumb yet i can explain why i wasnt wrong in using a symbol that means something than what you and tali are conflating it with, whereas neither of you have given an explaination on how its wrong. I don't think either of you are stupid, I think you two are ignorant for not seeing the parallel between this situations and several similar ones, like the example i gave earlier with the usage of the word "nigga" and the N word. If its different, explain how, dont just say it is. If you were trying to do what you said you were doing, you would've used the version with the 4 dots that is more distinct from the nazi swastika, but you didn't. I'm going to be -1 for removal of the verbal and +1 for upgrading to a warn. And where does it say swastikas of any kind are not allowed on the server? i couldnt find that either. I dont understand how no one is seeing the paralell between this and for example someone saying "***" when they meant cigarette, or other various examples that i've seen first hand and got told by staff it was okay to say those things.
