  1. It's very easy to just google "x gmod workshop" and you will find exactly what you're looking for. Custom materials are stripped because of server size. If was to include all of the materials the server would be well over 3 GB. As of right now, it's 600MB. I could make a collection of all of the weapons but that would take some time.

  2. January 24th Changelog

     

    That moment when you had a full changelog typed out and then you tried to refresh your indexed fields for all of the server files, then you realize you were on the changelog page instead and refresh it.

     

    More clientside and serverside optimization. I want to make sure the server is well under its CPU usage before I add in this Respected ULX rank since allowing people to use tools such as thrusters, hydraulics, ect will definitely increase server CPU usage by a good amount.

     

    • Optimized SetupMove for Arrested players
    • Optimized CalcMainActivity for DarkRP (animations/sh_animations)
    • Removed Think function for MadCowHolsters
    • Removed Bitminer hook for removing entities
    • Optimized think timer for NLR circles
    • Removed FAdmin Logging since there is only 90 other systems logging everything
    • Removed ragdoll maxount timer
    • Changed the way Lightsabers handle CalcView
    • Removed Drug Entities from DarkRP
    • Optimized CalcView for both the minify potion and the growth potion
    • Disable MouthMoveAnimation hook?
    • Optimized HUD even more
    • Removed gm_demo HUDPaint Hook
    • Hopefully moving a TON of weapons to a single weapon base and then removing all of the excess files from left over bases + a mass lua file removal again

  3. January 22nd Changelog

     

    • Fixed Magic Baby entity for the alchemy table
    • Added cooldown for "EXTERMINATE"
    • Fixed setting scope sensitivity for the btw scope base
    • Fixed a gun going through props + moved it to a more optimized base
    • Added in the auto-warrant tool I forgot to transfer
    • Removed Boombox because of the influx of requests to remove it
    • Fixed ProtorayImpact lua error
    • Fixed gdcw_unviversal impact lua error
    • Removed LagCompensation on sledgehammer
    • Fixed SetHolstered method on DoorCharge
    • Fixed gdcw_muzzle lua error
    • Fixed weapon_dunkey serverside lua error
    • Fixed weapon_c4 serverside lua error

  4. So I was browsing the workshop for some reason and I came across this map that was uploaded on the 18th. Now, I have checked over 50 downtown edits and I don't think I ever saw one that caught my eye so much. This map is everything I really wanted in the version I was going to make. Except, I stopped making my version because I simply cannot spend 400+ hours making / learning an editor to make a source engine map. Plus I hate making maps, I tried. I had no motivation to really make something. But no worries, take a look at this map.

    There is a lot of components into making and switching maps. Doing this can damage our playerbase a ton. Reason being is that the DarkRP community is so wired on downtown_v4c_v2 its insane. You have to have a very big community in order to switch maps successfully. Which, I mean we have switched in the past and it always works for around a week until people start leaving. Would you rather play with 20 - 30 / 50 people constantly or 50 / 50 usually? Keep this in mind when picking your vote in the poll.

     

    First of all, my biggest concern is features of the map. This map is v4c  and v2 combined basically. It has nothing but positives from what I can tell.

     

    What it adds

    • Extensive Sewer System
    • Bigger PD
    • A few extra places

    What it removes

    • Absolutely nothing

    Next, is the FPS on the map. Being that v4c has terrible brushwork on the map itself and is almost at it's brush limit I am very impressed that this map can even run. More impressively, this map increases FPS in most cases by 10+. Now, I won't sugar coat this and say "this map is the best, your FPS will be 300 everywhere you go". In a very few areas, the FPS is worse by 5 - 7 FPS. Here are some screenshots to compare.

    This issue is fixable for the most part. I can just do more optimization which I have a bunch of ideas. Also, I would have to re-enable shadows (which means flashlights will work) since there are dark areas in the sewers.

     

    Again, I can't really think of any reason why someone would say "FUCK THIS MAP, I LIKE THE SMALL PD AND I HATE SEWERS!". This map can add more jobs and open up a different realm of possibilities.

    Let me know your thoughts. I will not vote on the poll because I would prefer the whole community to come together and decide if they want to switch maps rather than me just switching maps because I don't like v4c. I was also thinking going back to EXL which has a sewer system which is baller. Really up to you guys though. EXL has a bigger PD but is smaller in general which would make me get rid of cars.   5. I added it back primarily because I thought everyone missed it being gone (tbh).

     

    1) You're right.

    2) You're even more right. Boombox is highly unoptimized and runs a few nasty hooks for it to function properly (it's why it was removed in the first place)

    3) This is a bug in the actual game I am going to assume, not the box itself

     

    Best option is to remove it.

     

    I have looked into COUNTLESS media players in Gmod and they all work and run the same unfortunately too. None of them are just optimized for a "bigger" server.

    I probably won't reset the server this morning for this update as it is already 10 AM and I want to see how much I can get in.

     

    • Growth potion now stays for 60 seconds
    • Added a minify potion
    • Added a tool for CP's to want people more easily
    • People who are in jail can no longer spawn NLR zones
    • Police Transmog now lasts for 60 seconds
    • Added a potion that can change your model to a random model in the server until death
    • Added a potion that turns into a swep which you can throw and explode
    • Added a potion that will spawn a random weapon
    • Fixed clientside lua error on armor weapon
    • Fixed clientside ua error on Alchemy Table
    • Fixed clientside lua muzzle flash s8
    • Fixed clientside lua error on GDCW Muzzle
    • Fixed serverside lua error on EMSS weapon
    • Added back boombox that is relatively fixed

    Hey Tits when I ger home can I msg you about some things to optimize a server? This girl I know is making one and imma help her!

     

    A server usually does not need optimization if it has less than 20 people on it(I mean, you always can optimize it but it's not honestly necessary). Unless they are running like 3GB worth of content and scripts at a 66 tickrate

    This job is not too bad of an idea.

     

    Nerf the armor for CP's,fighting against a 200 armor guy is not cool.

     

     

    something like 100 is reasonable.

     

    It honestly gives cops a fighting chance against either a bunch of players or custom classes in general. Cops are supposed to be the driving force that are supposed to keep the server secure and peaceful (unless there is a corrupt). I agree that the amount of armor they have is a little insane but again, they are supposed to be very powerful.

  9. January 12th Changelog

     

    • Further optimization to Sitting mod
    • Removed over 75 effects that were never used
    • Cleaned up custom class models for lower model precaching

    Next up, further compression to older custom class materials (I changed them to 512x512 instead of 256x256 resulting in a 200KB+ difference). I will also see if I can optimize the HUD any further and I definitely want to optimize the meth entities. I am also going to clean up some more entities that are lingering inside these workshop packs. Also, I don't know if you guys are going to have any FPS effects but I am now sitting around 285 - 295 FPS in my usual spot where I stand for FPS tests. This is up from 270ish.

  10. Add a few chooseable models for "The Corrupt" such as  Stalin, Hitler and some other i'm sure you can think of.

    Please.

     

    We used to use to have Hitler as a job (known as Terminator now), except his model crashed the server. I don't know if there is a Stalin model but if there is, I can add it in.

  11. January 9th Changelog

     

    Time for some networking optimization, I found a console command that dumps all tables currently being ran in the server and its a godsend.

     

    • Removed RBG NPC since I don't think anyone uses it and it has 12 network strings
    • Removed 6 network strings in ItemStore that result in trading which is disabled
    • Removed 4 network strings that result in the hackphone hacking a camera which has been disabled
    • Removed 3 network strings with eating Popcorn because why would you even need that
    • Removed 20 network strings with drugs, edited them so they are still usable
    • Removed 1 network string with KeypadCracker Sparks

    Some other things:

    • Rewrote how some weapon bases handle their SWEP:Think function by using a more modern technique
    • Removed a bunch of unused weapons
    • Removed a bunch of clientside files being ran when you don't need them
    • Removed some default gamemode entities that we don't use
    • Removed useless effects / details and entities that were unused
    • Removed some files that were forcing clients to download some extra models / materials that you didn't need (bitminers,drugs,motd,
    • Removed 2 hooks in Lightsabers that we don't need
    • Further changes to removing useless code inside Buu's Base
    • Disabled sitting on players due to millions of table inserts which will eventually bog down your frames and cause a leak
    • Optimization to player sitting, running code that was essentially disabled
    • Removed 3 hooks in sitting which will not effect actual usage
    • Removed heavy timer on sitting and rewrote it with a simpler method
    • Removed sandbox save_load file which contained some hooks and a network string
    • Removed Drugs for now since they are almost entirely useless
    • Fixed Car Health, car dealer was not setting the health serverside
    • Updated some server config options with networking
