i was farming goons when "amber herd shit stain" RDMed me i went back to try and get the last goons and he was blocking me from shooting them and i killed him. he then vote banned for NLR. this was at 3:45 am for me and i get that killing him looks bad but i really did not deserve the ban and just want it wiped

I killed you for stealing the goon chunks from the goons I killed.

 

I was the first to arrive. The Master Raider was the second to arrive (who was only taking the chunks of the goons he killed). You was third to arrive and started to take the chunks from the goons I killed, meanwhile the Master Raider did not do this, so I didn't kill him.

Assuming that was not your base,  NLR doesn't apply. Revenge RDM is actually the offense committed by squantopissfire. Considering that you both RDM'd each other, I am + 1 for ban removal.

So, tali's said the same. Although unwritten in the rules, there's been a discussion on this previously and they have tried to find it. However, after 10 minutes of being tabbed, tali disappeared and isn't replying to me, so I assume they can't find it.

 

A lot of the time when goons spawn, this happens. Players come along and take chunks from goon's they haven't killed, and they get killed for it. So this really needs some clarification if it hasn't been yet.

 

This is what makes sense to me:

Stealing from a player would be a proper roleplay reason to kill someone. i.e. You're using chem pumps to farm, and a player comes and picks up the filled barrels. That scenario has been tested in a sit, and it would be a valid reason to kill. So there's no reason why this same wouldn't apply.

 

To address the notion that it's a 'natural event' and that you don't own the goons: You obviously can't kill a player to 'reserve' goons that have spawned to keep them for yourself - they've naturally spawned, they aren't yours, so they're there for everyone to kill. i.e. Hunting animals, they're not yours, but as soon as you've killed it - it's now yours. However, this isn't what happened here - as soon as you have killed them - the resulting goon meat that it drops would be owned by whoever's killed it.

I understand the logic, but I still wouldn't considered that a valid kill. As of now killing someone for taking goon chunks that were dropped from a goon is considered RDM and therefore NLR didn't apply to OP. Perhaps this does call for the rules regarding this matter to be clarified.

Thank you, a clarification does make sense. It seems other players think the way I do, and likewise the way you've mentioned too. I've been killed in the same circumstance with 'stealing' and I didn't think it was RDM.

 

In the grand scheme of things I'd rather get on with other things than bother with this post (and I'm sure you guys feel the same). As much as it's not up to me, I don't really care about punishing SQUANTOPISSFIRE, let them play, this shit is minor.

 

One thing I want to add, though - I don't want it to seem like I've intentionally RDMed or broken the rules here.

Though not a specified rule, goons are a world event spawn entity for the entirety of the server, and therefor the goon chunks that are dropped (regardless of who killed the goon) is also a public entity. At the end of the day it's first come first served. Though it could be annoying sometimes, people can just sit there with inv pickup and only run around picking up the goon chunks after the goon is killed. In that spawn location, unless you owned doors, you never had the right to kill him in the first place, so he didn't "break NLR". It does however look like he come back and RRDM'd you under the guise that you were blocking the final goon. Either way, you did RDM him in the first place which negates the claim to NLR in this scenario so I'm a +1 for ban removal. 

 

Edit: Just to clarify, in a general sense, you did break NLR to go and RRDM this guy, I don't fully believe that you shot him purely because "he was in the way of the final goon" however, I do think that this was more of RRDM than it was NLR.

He RDM'ed you and you RRDM'ed him it evens out. Since you were votebanned and only you received punishment to make it fair for both of you guys I will go ahead and inform the admins about the situation but you will have to contact them about it if you see one on at the same time as you. ACCEPTED
