BearPaws Posted March 30, 2023 Share Posted March 30, 2023 (edited) Hello, I'm the banning staff member for this ban and i'd like to provide some information about why this user was banned for mass fake demoting. I was doing my job as staff on duty when I noticed that J E W I S H A L I E N had been calling for a number of vote demotes on players for various reasons and people were starting to complain in chat about it so I decided to start spectating him. The first case I personally witnessed was when J E W I S H A L I E N ran up to a group of 3 raiders who were lockpicking the front door prop on a base as a CP class. These 3 raiders turned around and killed J E W I S H A L I E N and he then made a demote vote. Within the next 2 minutes J E W I S H A L I E N then proceeded to run into a kidnappers base with cuffs out, attempt to cuff one of the kidnappers, and was killed by another player inside the base. Of course, J E W I S H A L I E N made a demote vote. It was at this point that I brought J E W I S H A L I E N to sit land and told him to stop falsely demoting people. J E W I S H A L I E N denied that the allegations were false as he did not realize I was spectating him and after I told him I had been spectating him he became upset and accused this staff member of harassment. I told J E W I S H A L I E N to stop making fake demote votes and that if he thought he had been RDM'd he could make a admin sit for it (something that I know he knew how to do as I had dealt with a few of his admin sit requests in the previous hours.). I then decided to go about my business and take some other sits when a sit came up on my screen from someone claiming that J E W I S H A L I E N had falsely demoted them once again. I teleported both players to a sit and confirmed that the situation was a valid kill as J E W I S H A L I E N was chasing a player down with cuffs out and was subsequently killed. I attempted to talk with J E W I S H A L I E N about our previous conversation regard calling for a sit instead of demoting players but he was not receptive at all and began getting upset. It was at this point that this staff member checked his previous warns and bans and realized that he had been banned previously for doing this exact thing already. It was at this point that this staff member informed J E W I S H A L I E N that he was going to be banned for mass false demote after warn and directed him here to the forums so he could appeal the ban if he felt like it. Typically when it comes to finding out what range is acceptable to start attacking we tend to go by /y distance. Do you have any evidence proving the thiefs were far away from you when you got killed? What about the other two times whats your defense there? I don't have any clips but I can confidently say that he was within the /y range when the raiders killed him. For further reference, here is a log dump of ALL of the demote votes he had called that day leading up to his ban. While I can only personally vouch for the last three as I personally witnessed 2 of them and dealt with a sit and confirmed it through NLR logs and Damage logs for the last one, it is a safe bet that at least a few other of these were also false as they would have been the previous demote votes that the server was complaining of prior to me starting my investigation. If they broke a rule against you (Ex: RDM) you could demote them but we highly suggest calling a sit. Contact someone before calling a /demote on them for breaking a rule against you. If you are unsure, ask for staff assistance.
