Why should you be unbanned?: I personally believed I should be unbanned for the reasoning behind my actions. My actions were NOT in an attempt to cause a crash in the server. To recap before I had been building a sky train because why not. Everything was running smoothly and such until a person smacked a prop into my train. This caused it to flip out and swing around. I watched it and others laughed until and abrupt stop came crashing the server. I did not crash it on purpose and until a bit later I never realized that I had caused said crash. Unbenounced to the fact that I had crashed the server I went ahead normally, and began to build. I then came up with the thought as to why the server had crashed. I had an inkling to as to why the server crashed, I thought it could have been the train. I thought I should retry my creation and test to see if this was the case. I did this in order to find the source and see if it was me therefore I could report the tool/reasoning to a higher up or make a forum post. I constructed a new apparatus and it began bugging. My end was laggy but my friend on the other side of the map did not experience issues. The console then froze the props which I realized meant I was on to something. Neeks came over and analyzed and I cleared my props. Neeks explained that I had almost crashed the server, but after steam talking with others they said that that was not the case. Still unsure as to what had happened I felt I needed to get to the bottom. Just in case to prevent crash I tried again but on a much smaller scale just to see if any lag would occur or if the console would shut down. But before I even knew it Neeks had kicked me. I rejoined and pm Neeks "wtf neeks" and then I was banned. and a looming not said extend to perma. SMALL NOTES 1. I told neeks it was rope, but I learned it was hydraulics 2. My intentions were for the sake of bug finding and reporting 3. people will support my story and ideas 4. I do recognize that what I did was good intentioned but poorly executed. 5. I do believe that Neeks acted within appropriate perameters and they should not be repremanded etc. RESPONSE: While I do believe what I did and have done is wrong, I believe I have shown a commitment to the server through my multiple days of play time and donation. I was wrong but I do believe that because I had good intentions I should be spared from the punishment of a permanent ban. The thought scares me and my friends, I strongly love the server and have invested my time and money into; why would I do something like that to something I love if not for the presumtion that I was to do good? Either way I am sorry for my actions but not sorry for my intentions. Apologies to the readers for this long note but I felt it would be important to explain everything. Monoxide Posted July 7, 2017 Share Posted July 7, 2017 Honestly, if you were trying to find a chink in the armour of the server in order to report it I don't feel you should be banned, however perhaps you should have let someone know this was what you were doing before executing your plan. Without alerting the staff team of what you planned to do it appears that you were trying to crash the server with malicious intent. I for one don't believe you should be permed, possibly not even banned. Like you said. Lolibot Posted July 7, 2017 Share Posted July 7, 2017 so i was just randomly walking around and in the slums and i saw like 5 props connected by ropes to the world going nuts and the server starting to stutter (this was literally like 5 min after a crash) i quickly removed the props then saw it was a player that had obviously been around for a while and tried to figure out what he was doing. I asked what he did and he said it was just ropes. i tried to duplicate but could not (i was thinking that since the server just crashed there was some sort of bug or there was perhaps a change i didnt know about). so i told him NOT to do that again. at all. period, because he was crashing the server. i had a hunch that he was lying to me because the rope has NEVER worked, it had to be hydraulic, because he was connecting it to the world (the only thing i KNOW works). so i spectated him. not even a minute later i watch him go into hiding in the warehouses, and start spawning the exact same props in a jumble, then make them zero gravity. i watch him start using the hydraulic, unfreeze the props and start spamming it again with more hydraulics. I immidiately saw a dip in the server and i kicked him right away then banned him. there was no "i was trying to experiment and try to figure out what was going on" he very well knew what was going on. and if his intention was to report it, then he should have stopped at that. this was intended and deliberate. you can see him spam it 5 times with hydraulics in the screencap here after spawning the props. http://i.imgur.com/E0sZqMm.jpg This is a player who recently lost his mod due to the fact that he had decided to abuse the system and decided to start screwing people over because of it. the ban is currently 24 hours due to my restrictions, but this needs to be extended to a perma. Moist Chicken Posted July 7, 2017 Share Posted July 7, 2017 I've known this guy for a while. Haven't really got personal but I have seen him around and to me, he hasn't caused many problems. His admit was good, and you can tell he was just trying to make the server a better place for everyone. If what he is saying is true, that to crash the server was not his intention, then I believe a shortened ban should be issued.(About a 7d Ban Would Be Appropriate) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Just as a response I'd like to say I thought it was rope, I really didnt know the difference between hydraulics and slider etc... I just saw a rope and I was like huh it was rope. Im assuming I used hydraulics or winch but I really didn't know. I wouldn't intentionally lie about something you can easily see in logs as there is no way I could get away with something like that. TitsRP Posted July 8, 2017 Share Posted July 8, 2017 Of course testing it's ability to crash the server would of been better if you did it in like single player or a local server but he seemed sincere enough. I don't think a perma ban would of been in place as he wasn't doing it cause harm but he did it because he was in denial that his contraption crashed the server.
