Why were you banned or warned?

1. I built Wayne Manor with a sick-ass bat cave. Irrelevant, but you should come check it out sometime. I spent a lot of time on it, it's where I monitor criminals, it's friggin sweet.

2. Like I do every day, I heeded the call of injustice. Another nameless lockpicker causing trouble in my city. With the speed of a sonar-guided bat, I closed in on my prey, eager to rid the denizens of some fine establishment of another petulant criminal harassing their private property. Not my best footwork, but I managed to restrain the vagrant with sufficient speed and squeeze in a few haymakers. Angered by the temporary belt of shame, the heathen known as "Spilled Bong Water" chose to claim that I can't restrain someone who is raiding. He then ordered his partner-in-crime to shoot me, then watched on helplessly, as the second raider did an impeccable job of riddling me with bullets. A shame, as I had just gotten the suit back from the cleaners.

3. I immediately returned to the scene of the crime, eager to explain to the young disgruntled gentleman that raiding doesn't prohibit me from doing my job: protecting this city with extreme prejudice. Knowing that I would be accused of breaking NLR, the first thing I shouted was something to the effect of "I'm not breaking NLR", which I now understand doesn't excuse the behavior. But I maintain that my intent was not to continue to restrain him or his compatriates, nor do anything else in the name of RP. My intent at that point was simply to inform him, as a player, that his claim that his raid prohibits me from using my trusty Bat Belt Restraints was, in fact, incorrect, invalid, and a danger to the good-intentioned, generally rule-following players such as myself, when players like him threaten reports.

3a. Now, obviously my breaking NLR excludes me from being a completely rule-following player, hence my claim that I am a generally rule-following player, which everyone knows puts me at least average if not above average compliance in a DarkRP server. #facts

3b. When I say "players like him", everyone knows what I mean. If you are a fairly casual player or someone who plays a lot but doesn't make inroads with admins, regulars, etc., those that do stand out with their dismissive, power-starved tone. Forgive me if I become emotionally charged when confronted with the threat of a sit with these well-connected individuals.

4. He killed me, correctly claiming that I had broken NLR. (Later in the sit, I acknowledged as it was explained to me, that in addition to my breaking NLR, this was not RDM, as he was still in the raid which makes it KOS).

5. His claims that I would be reported then exacerbated the situation because he had not yet acknowledged that his raid does not prohibit me from doing my job, restraining people. With detective-like instincts, I sought him out 6 more times in the next few minutes, never attacking him, but trying to ensure he understood this was not a rule. Rather than communicating to me that he understood this, or even trying to understand it, he killed me within seconds every time, both of us shouting over the other.

5a. The first return to the scene was definitely breaking NLR. Imo, some of the latter 6 could be argued that I wasn't breaking NLR because I wasn't returning to the scene of my last death every time; I was merely seeking him out to communicate, which is something nearly every single player does. #facts

5b. At this point and for the entirety of the discussion afterward, I acknowledge my temporary wrongdoing. I did so in the name of righting what I considered to be a more egregious sin, misunderstanding job descriptions which could lead to erroneous reports.

5c. At several points he indicated that he had reported me. Claiming that he was really only upset about the NLR now, but never acknowledging that his initial threat about using restraints during a raid was not something he would ever report someone for.

6. I reported him for grief report, because he never acknowledged that his initial complaint that using my restraints during a raid was not actually something wrong. Therefore I could only assume that his report may have been the very report I was so desperately trying to avoid. Of course, by this time, he and several others had realized that the original complaint was invalid, and, instead, chose to report me for NLR, as is their right.

7. I attended the sit, trying to explain that I understand the accusations of my wrongdoings. In my defense, I tried to get the young man to acknowledge that he understands the rules of the game and that we can both move forward if we agree on the rules. To his credit, he remained unwavering. However, no love or logic emanated from the poor soul.
8. When he claimed that I was shouting over him, I tried to give him plenty of space to make his case. His case essentially consisted of claiming that I broke MNLR, which is something I had acknowledged from the outset.

9. The tmod Merhaculous did a fantastic job of trying to cool us both down and hear me out while also putting his foot down about the rules as he understood them. He asked Spilled if he forgave me, presumably so we could just let bygones be bygones. We heard no such forgiveness from the boy. Spilled later claimed that he was in the chat talking to us because I was being loud. That could genuinely be true and I just missed his name in the feed; kinda sus though, I feel like I would have seen it. In his defense, I was really only looking for Merhaculous' name because up to that point Spilled had just been using voice chat. Maybe I just missed his name. Although, we'd seen him typing for quite a while, not responding to us. Seemed like a lot of PMs.

9a. By now, I'd already made it quite clear that I believed he was communicating with someone outside the sit to my detriment. He denied these accusations. But surprisingly, it was at this point he divulged that several of his other friends had reported me for NLR as well, before he ever did (as if the timing of these reports matter when I claimed to have technically broken NLR from the outset of the confrontation).

10. After we established that forgiveness was not something he was interested in, nor was he willing to accept my forgiveness, nor speak a single word of regret or empathy, I expressed wishes that he had learned something about the rules of the game. Instead, he expressed that it was I who probably learned something, insinuating that his power in this virtual sandbox need not be challenged, lest we feel the wrath of his resolute sullen inflexibility.

10a. He claims to have screencapped this brief departure from maturity. If it is shared, I urge him to start the reel from 20 seconds before I appeared and restrained him to the moment he mic-dropped me before the ban, uncut.

69. I now write this appeal with the hope that you will ignore my grief report on him. He is a sweet summer child who has my forgiveness and my apologies as a player. And, if I am returned to my rightful place as Batman in TitsRP, he and everyone else will have my everlasting protection from the forces of evil, and my unending pursuit if they choose to succumb to those forces.

Why should you be unwarned/unbanned?

As Marino once said, "Small men command the letter of the law. Great men serve its spirit. For the spirit of the law is justice."

This hapless criminal misunderstood one of the central themes of DarkRP: Job descriptions and equipment.

Not only am I steadfastly dedicated to the betterment of the server experience and protecting the lives of its role-playing citizens, I have sworn a sacred oath to never wield a lethal weapon, nor ever take a life. This task is daunting and thankless, but worth the effort all the while. And although I have died a thousand deaths at the hands of criminals who have escaped my temporary restraints, I have only broken NLR less than a dozen times to explain misunderstood rules to newer players. Is it improper? Yes. Is it annoying when it happens? For those with choleric temperament, probably. Is it wrong? I don't think so.

Even if you think I deserved to be removed from the server to cool off, a 5-day ban for a 5-10 minute lapse in judgment arguing with an unforgiving, uncompromising player does not fit the crime. Why do we fall, Bruce?

"Spilled Bong Water" warned me, "Merhacululous" did a great job at moderating the sit. He even tried to give Spilled a chance to forgive me, who found it too difficult to do so.

+1 for reduction, You did MNLR undeniably but your behavior in the sit showed that your not someone that is some big evil bad guy. Try to !pm next time.

I get it we all mess up sooner or later , I don't think your intention are evil when playing batman but much as a role that is needed but ofc your actions come with consequences but I would also like to know how other staff members feel about this
