Lunartique
"Damage increasing, firerate increasing and recoil decreasing foods have been limited to each gun." - March 19th Change log On the day that this change occurred, Myself and Tene tested the new changes to these specific foods. We came to the conclusion that damage, firerate and recoil food were limited to four per gun. Seems fair, no more broken one-shot guns. Limiting recoil food to 4 didn't make sense but no one cares anyway. But apparently the majority of us misunderstood? What exactly is "exploiting" with these food? Using one +5% damage food? Stacking them 4 times? Link to comment https://forums.titsrp.com/topic/13026-the-food-exploit-situation/ Share on other sites
Zek
I'm not familiar with the whole incident and I might be wrong on some points. Exploiting is taking advantage of a mechanic that isn't intended and use it for your own gains. As far as I know, stacking food isn't an advanced mechanic that the developer should of missed. Yes damage stacking is OP, but as far as people are concern, they only found a new secret way to get more damage. It's like finding any secret way to make more money than normal or farm a certain type of item faster. The fault here should be on the developer that allowed "stacking" and people shouldn't get punished for it. A prime example : When the bank first came out, people were raiding the shit out of it for millions of dollars easily obtained. This took a bit of time before it got patched, but anyone who gained from it wasn't called an exploiter... because it was the fault of the developer for making it OP and it got patched. Food stacking is OP, therefor it's patched. Fin Link to comment https://forums.titsrp.com/topic/13026-the-food-exploit-situation/#findComment-88095 Share on other sites
TitsRP
Sorry, this should have been explained better. Someone messaged me on discord and I explained it to them so I will copy and paste most of that information. The food itself isn't an exploit. The food decreases firerate by 5% and for a lot of guns it works as expected. Some CC weapons are poorly made and or have weird fire rate values and when decreasing the fire rate by 5% it causes the server to think the weapons have no cooldown. Hence giving weapons the ability to shoot their whole clip in a fraction of a second, killing everything immediately. It should become obvious when something isn't working as expected. A group of people abused the fact that there are a few guns in the server that when their fire rate was lowered, it emptied the whole clip immediately (I know one was the Reaper Shotguns). An exploit is when you're taking advantage of a bug for your own self gain which is why it's being called an exploit. It is a bug on the foods end for allowing the firerate to dip below that threshold because there are no validity checks. It became an exploit when it was abused for a week or so and it wasn't reported right away. Here is the bug in action. Note, that the food is supposed to lower the fire rate by 5%. Does this look like 5% to you? This is after one 5% decrease. Zek
Guess I was misinformed, thought it was the damage stacking food. That's a more understandable reason why people are getting punished Link to comment https://forums.titsrp.com/topic/13026-the-food-exploit-situation/#findComment-88101 Share on other sites
TitsRP
Guess I was misinformed, thought it was the damage stacking food. That's a more understandable reason why people are getting punished As far as I am aware, it was one person. And he was warned, not even banned. Lunartique
I see, it lowers the firerate to what the base value of it's firerate is by -5% and not it's actual set firerate. This makes much more sense, thanks for clearing it up. Link to comment https://forums.titsrp.com/topic/13026-the-food-exploit-situation/#findComment-88118 Share on other sites
