[*] Downloading/Using Medal [*] Basic guide for staff [*] Introduction Medal is a recording software where you can clip up to 20 minutes of game footage or record your entire game session, it is highly recommended that staff read over this guide for a basic understanding of Medal if they haven't done so already. [*] Why would I need to record my game? As a staff member, you will eventually run into niche situations where you WILL need evidence. The logs do not cover everything. It is extremely useful for ban/warn appeals and player reports made against you as clipping/recording your game session will provide a solid form of evidence in these appeals. [*] Downloading Medal Obviously the first step will be downloading and creating an account, Medal has various options to create an account with. Visit this link, download Medal and from there create an account as well. [*] Launching Medal & How to start When you launch Medal for the first time, you will see a basic interface with a bunch of buttons, as a staff member, you will only need to focus on what I’ve pointed at below. You will need to launch Garry’s Mod to see this. Once you click that, another interface will open up as shown below As a staff member, you will only need to ever use Clips & Sessions. It is highly recommended that you use session the whole time. The other area highlighted isn’t something you need to worry about, those are just my personal settings I recommend for clipping. Clips - A quick way to capture the last 15 seconds to 20 minutes of your game. Session - Will record your entire game session, this is what I recommend even if you’re just RPing. [*] Editing session/clips Once you actually need to edit your game session to pull clips, you will have to turn OFF the recording for it to upload into your library. Once you do that, here's what it should look like below, just click on the session you want to edit. When you click on the session you want to edit, here’s what it should look like. When you click “Start Trimming” , you will be able to drag and clip the part of the session you want to pull. After pulling the clip, the last step is to copy the link. I’ll have a short video of me demonstrating below. [*] Medal Demo [*] [*] Frequent Problems Storage Issues - Recording your entire session will usually take up to 20 - 80 gb depending on how long you play. Luckily Medal has an option to clear unused clips. I personally delete unused sessions/clips 3-5 days after there's no appeal/report up on me. This is pretty self explanatory, it will select your oldest clips to delete. We all forget sometimes and clips start to stack up and take up space. That’s all you would need as staff in regards to Medal and pulling clips! It is an extremely useful tool that you should always use. If there is anything I missed feel free to DM me.
