Below, you can find information on moderating! General Rules Sit Guidelines Tools provided Proper Punishments Tips and Tricks General Rules The Do's DO be respectful and relatively professional during sits and RPing, no one likes an immature moderator / admin DO help people with any questions they have and attempt to be the first one to a sit all the time, this will be noticed and you may get promoted DO respect other peoples privacy. Spectating them or teleporting to them constantly is a big NO DO listen to both sides of an admin sit and use logs to your advantage DO ask for admin / mod help if you're unsure what to do or how to punish people DO use common sense. Banning people for 2 weeks because they had 4 fading doors instead of 3 is a big NO DO ignore sits with the ignore button if it does not follow the "Call for an admin rules" DO go to sits that follow the "Call for an admin rules" DO be a positive role model. Our players look up to you guys. Acting like children will get the players to act like children. The Do Not's DO NOT abuse noclip. This is the fastest way to get demoted. Flying away for RP reasons and flying into bases or anything else is not tolerated. You will be demoted swiftly if there is any report DO NOT spawn entities. The entity limit is set to 2 because superadmins can spawn people weapons if they lose them. That's our responsibility, not yours DO NOT warn people for 3 different reasons if they broke three different rules in one act. 1 warning will do and they should learn from it. If they don't warn them again DO NOT ban / kick people for RP reasons. Ex) Billy Bob raided Sugar's house and Sugar got angry and banned him for 2 hours for some bullshit reason DO NOT compensate people with money or guns unless you're running a charity. I will not refund your money or guns because I have no logs of that DO NOT God, Cloak, Ignite, ect for any reason. I never have to use so neither should you. Learn to deal with it. Of course there are very SPECIAL situations to use these powers but just don't use them DO NOT unban people unless you banned the wrong person. Message me immediately if you need someone unbanned for another reason. I will check why they were banned DO NOT god, cloak or ignite other people for any reason. This is a HUGE HUGE NO. You will be demoted with the first report I see about that DO NOT think you're above the rules. You're not and you're going to make yourself look stupid if you think you can do special RP things since you're staff DO NOT teleport or bring other staff without messaging them first. This goes along with respecting their privacy. Message them in admin chat or steam first DO NOT ban or kick other staff unless they go rogue for what ever reason. Message me immediately if this happens DO NOT cause GMOD drama. I am a server owner, not a baby sitter. Talk with the other person and resolve it or I will resolve it by demoting you both. There is no mercy for childish drama. DO NOT talk or act like a child. If you have the constant need to be obnoxious in OOC, make fun of other players or use words like "fgt" or refer to things as "cancerous" then you will be demoted. DO NOT break our own rules. As a moderator you're teaching the rules, not breaking them. Even one slight minor mistake can have you demoted. Sit Guidelines Starting a Sit When starting a sit you should always check for the following things. They opened the report properly. There is a viable victim in the situation. The victim wants there to be a sit.After you check all of those things and they appear to be true no clip to a secluded roof/building at spawn/ or admin area and bring the victim/offender/witnesses. Doing the Sit When doing a sit you want to make sure of all of the following things. victim can clearly state what rule the offender is breaking. You listen to both sides of the story. What the victim feels the offender did wrong is stated something not allowed in the rules.After figuring out what the victim feels was wrong and checking the rules, ask the offender if it is true. If the offender says yes, explain it is against the rules, maybe tell him why. If the offender says no, keep them calm and look into it with the tools you have been provided. Remember, take people’s words with a grain of sand. Usually people won’t lie to you intentionally but their perception can really change what it looked like. If the offender turns out to not have broken a rule the sit ends here, return everyone and go about your day. Giving a punishment If it turns out the offender did in fact break a rule then you would do all of the following. Give a proper punishment to the offender. Make sure the offender understands what rule he broke and how. Make sure the victim feels like he was justified.Cleaning Up When you are done make sure you !return everyone or phys gun them back where you found them. If you had to teleport to someone to do the sit make sure you return yourself. It doesn’t hurt to ask the players for feedback while you are at it. Tools Provided ULX Main tool for maintaining peace, getting around, and giving punishments. You can access it by type !menu in chat or putting ulx menu in console. You will use the following ULX commands and these are their effects. Banid - bans a user by their steam id. Ban - temporarily prevents the targeted player from joining and removes them. Kick - removes the targeted player from the server. Mute - makes it so the targetr can not talk in chat. Gag - makes it so the target can not talk over mic. Jail - puts the target in an indestructible cage. Freeze - makes it so the target can not move, look around, use, or shoot. Jailtp - teleports the target to the spot you are looking at in a cage. Tp - teleports the target to the spot you are looking at. Send - teleports target one to target two’s locations. Bring - teleports the target to your location. AWARN A system for logging small offenses. The awarn GUI can be accessed by saying !warn in chat or saying awarn_menu in console. You can view all online players warnings in the GUI and by right clicking on their name you can give them a warning. You can also give a warning by typing “!warn username reason” DLOGS Also known as “the logs,” it can be accessed by typing /dlogs in chat. It logs all of the following things. Name changes, Job Changes, Prop Spawns, Toolgun Usage, Kills/Deaths, Arrests/Unarrests, Cop Wants, Cop Warrants, Connections/Disconections, job demotes, hitman hits, damage, chat, Entity purchases, and Ebola. ADMIN STICK It is a swep in game, it is found in slot 1. With it you can freeze/unfreeze players, unown doors, remove entities, and uncuff players. FADMIN Fadmin can be found in the tab menu, mostly admins use this. It provides mostly the same things as ULX but moderators can not over turn it. For example, if a admin fadmin jails a moderator the moderator can not unjail himself. Proper Punishments Only Verbal Warnings / Warnings should be given when it was an accident. If X is done three or more times it is considered "mass X". If Staff; I recommend using what is in parenthesis to keep ban reasons and warnings clean. Verbal Warning < Warning/Gag/Mute < Kick/Jail/Freeze < Ban < Perm Ban Accident < Intentional Falsely killing someone (RDM) If on accident usually a verbal warning would be given unless it could have obviously been avoided, in which case a warning would be issued. For example, if the offender failed to read the rules. If on purpose but had a false reason than up to a warning can be given, we all make mistakes. If the RDM was intentional then a one hour ban can be issued. Mass RDM intentional or not can default to a one week ban. Falsely Arresting/Wanting someone (RDA) If on accident usually a verbal warning would be given unless it could have obviously been avoided. On purpose but with false reason than a warning can be given. If the RDA was intentional than a one hour ban can be put in place. Mass RDA intentional or not can lead to being banned for a week. Disrespecting / Threatening (Harassment) The person can be given a warning over this if severe. We highly recommend dealing with this in an RP manor. You should not take what people say seriously on the internet. If DDoS threat, see 'crashing server'. Also being near a staff member while they are doing a sit on a roof is considered harassment, the staff member should move you away or ask you to go away first and if you do not comply then you can be warned, jailed, or even banned for an hour. Not role-playing properly or as chosen job. (FailRP) FailRP is very general, this includes self supplying, 'changing /job to change job if the job already exists, or just not role-playing correctly. This can be punishable from anything as low as a verbal warning up to a ban. Even being banned from the certain job. Exploiting Exploiting is using a feature in a unintended manor to give yourself an advantage. If caught exploiting the punishment will vary depending on how much of an advantage the exploiter gains. Chat (Spamming) If disrespectful a warning/gag/mute can be given. Spamming offensive messages in OOC or Advert is a ban. Racism is a ban or warn. General Prop Abuse(Prop Abuse) Can be anywhere from a verbal warning to a ban. This includes but is not limited to prop Blocking/Flying/Spamming. Also building in a place you do not own to give your self any form of advantage is warn-able. If prop spam causes lag then it can be considered " Crashing Server". FailBasing Failbasing encompasses a large variety of bases that are either banned or unfair. Punishment for this rule varies massively and depends on how often a user breaks it. It usually starts with a warn/kick. Bases that fall under this category include: Skybases (Unless stated otherwise) Bases that use props to climb onto a building Bases that exploit head glitches Having hidden keypads (They must be next to the door and in plain sight) Having a base that is not raidable if only a lockpick was used. Having a blackout base or any color that makes it almost impossible to gain a perception of direction Having a base that uses a killbox or any form of inescapable trap Building over global drug zones (Home/Gang drug zones are fine) Repeated Offend in short time span (Continue After Warned) If continued after being told not to by staff a higher punishment will be given. This mainly applies to offenders who do something multiple times in one sitting. If over 50 warns and 25% of warns are for similar reasons a perm ban will be put in place. [meme]WHEN WILL YOU LEARN! THAT YOUR ACTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES![/meme] Leaving to avoid punishment(LTAP) Doing this can highly extend your ban length, it is considered LTAP if you leave immediately after breaking a rule or leaving while in a sit. Keep in mind someone leaving does not automatically equal LTAP, only put it if they obviously were trying to avoid being in trouble. Attempting to lag or crash the server. (Crashing Server) This will be a permanent ban almost all the time. Even threatening it can lead to a permanent ban. Causing lag in game and DDoSing fall under this. Tips and Tricks You can bind the menu to a key by pressing ~ and typing EXACTLY THIS bind g "ulx menu" INCLUDE the quotes and you can change the g key to any key you want You can bind noclip to a key by pressing ~ and typing EXACTLY THIS bind v "ulx noclip" INCLUDE the quotes and you can change the v key to any key you want You can go to people with the !goto command. You don't have to type their full name. An example would be !goto sugar this would go to Sugar Tits. You can return yourself to your last position if you went to someone or if you brought someone with !return if you want to return someone else, do !return namehere You can open the logs by doing /dlogs. If you were made a mod or admin in the current session, you will have to disconnect and rejoin. Sometimes an apology from the offender to the victim is enough. Doesn’t hurt to ask them to say sorry and make up. ULX has quick target keys, you can put these in place of a name. @ targets the person you are looking at, ^ targets yourself, and * targets everyone. Sugar: I hope you guys follow these rules. Its really just common sense but I found that 95% of the people who play DarkRP seem to lack it. Not following these rules will get you either banned or demoted without question. With that being said, don't be afraid to message me with suggestions to add to this thread and I hope you guys can provide a fun and RDM free experience on our server.
